About the Siegels

Barbara and Scott Siegel are the authors of 47 books, including The Encyclopedia of Hollywood (Facts on File, first edition, 1989, second edition, 2004), American Film Comedy (Macmillan), and more than a half dozen celebrity biographies, including books on Jack Nicholson, Bruce Willis, Winona Ryder and Jim Carrey. As a consequence, they have often appeared on TV shows, including The Joan Lunden Show, Court TV, The Joe Franklin Show, The Dini Petty Show, MSNBC and regularly on The Stephen Holt Show.

The Siegels cover film, theater and cabaret in print, on the radio and on the Internet. In addition, they interview celebrities in all of these mediums. They have written theater and/or cabaret columns for such trade publications as Back Stage, Show Business Weekly, and Drama-Logue. Until its demise, Barbara and Scott also wrote two weekly columns for InTheater Magazine: Down Front with the Siegels (cabaret) and InCinema (film). They have also been guest critics on Eyadda.com and have contributed reviews to CitySearch. Their articles, reviews and interviews have been published by The Bergen Record, The Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, The International Film Journal, Stage Directions, Cups, etc.

Together, Barbara & Scott write The Siegel Column twice a week at Talkin' Broadway and once per week they also write a cabaret column called Barbara & Scott: The Two of Clubs for Talkin' Broadway. The Siegels also continue to write reviews for Theatremainia.com.

Scott is in his tenth year as the host of The Town Hall Film Seminar Series, which runs from November through June and has a subscription base of 600 people. Scott co-hosted movie screenings for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for ten years before taking on the Town Hall Film Series. Scott and Barbara, together, directed the CUE Summer Film Festival at Queen’s College for ten years, as well. The couple operate their own literary agency, Siegel & Siegel Ltd., and have often been guest speakers at writers' conventions. Their agency has represented more than fifteen New York Times bestsellers, including R.A. Salvatore's novelization of George Lucas' Attack of the Clones.

Scott is the creator/writer/host of the acclaimed Broadway by the Year series at Town Hall, which begins its seventh season in February 2007. Thirteen best-selling CDs (Bayview Recording) are live recordings of past shows. Scott is the creator/writer/host of the annual Broadway Unplugged concert series at Town Hall. He also conceived the critically acclaimed Nightlife Awards which take place at Town Hall every year.

Barbara Siegel is on the Executive Board of the Drama Desk and is chair of its Nominating Committee. Both Barbara and Scott are voting members of the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
