Scott is the creator/writer/host of the acclaimed Broadway by the Year series at The Town Hall in New York City, which will begin its twelfth season in February, 2012. For Town Hall, he is also the creator/writer/host of The Summer Broadway Festival and the Broadway/Cabaret Festival. In addition, also at Town Hall, he has created The Siegel Season, a special trio of shows that consists of the hit annual concert, Broadway Unplugged, The Nightlife Awards (celebrating its tenth season this coming January), and The Best of Jim Caruso’s Cast Party (which opened last year with Chita Rivera and closed with Liza Minnelli). Scott created all of the above series and continues to write and host ten of the thirteen concerts of which they are all a part.
Scott is also the Supervising Producer/Director of a series of concerts at Jazz at Lincoln Center that star Michael Feinstein. He will begin his second season with Michael Feinstein and Jazz at Lincoln Center in the Spring of 2012. Scott was also the producer of the 20th Anniversary Lauri Strauss Leukemia Benefit concert at Rose Hall at Jazz at Lincoln Center, and will produce the 21st Annual concert in November, 2011.
All totaled, Scott has produced more than 100 major Broadway style concerts in New York City, plus he has taken his shows from coast to coast; his next out of town production will consist of six performances of Broadway by The year at Broadway by the Bay in Redwood City, CA in November, 2011.
On the club scene, Scott is the creator/producer of a hit, long-running musical revue called 11 O’Clock Numbers at 11 O’Clock that just concluded an eight month run at Feinstein’s at the Loew’s Regency Hotel in New York City. He is also known for the shows Broadway Jukebox and American Jukebox.
Before becoming a concert producer, Scott, with his wife, Barbara, was the author of 48 published books (novels and non-fiction), including The Encyclopedia of Hollywood (Facts on File), American Film Comedy (Macmillan), and more than a half dozen celebrity biographies including books on Jack Nicholson, Bruce Willis, Winona Ryder and Jim Carrey. They have written for seventeen major publishers from Bantam Books to St. Martin’s Press. Scott is also a critic who covers film, theater and cabaret. With his wife, Barbara, he currently writes The Siegel Column at TalkinBroadway.com. In addition, they also write reviews on a regular basis for TheaterMania.com. They have written theater and/or cabaret columns for such trade publications as Drama-Logue, Back Stage, Show Business Weekly, and InTheater Magazine. They have also reviewed theater extensively on the radio, including WNEW FM in NYC.
Barbara Siegel is on the Executive Board of the Drama Desk and is chair of its Nominating Committee. Both Barbara and Scott are voting members of the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
Finally, Scott programs and hosts The Town Hall Feature Film Seminar Series, which will begin its 15th season in November, 2011.
